Holiday Shopping – Local Edition

Holiday Shopping – Local Edition

In my opinion, you can never start shopping for the holidays too early; spread it out over a couple months and it makes it not so daunting! When you do your shopping this year, make sure to shop with local vendors and especially mom-owned businesses.  Vend Raleigh has a directory that lists local vendors by category:

Have fun looking around and hopefully doing some shopping!

If you’ve never checked out the website Kara’s Party Ideas then you’re really missing out!  I have spent hours looking at all the amazing party themes and ideas that she has blogged about, and its such a great resource for party supplies as well.  Definitely check it out and plan on spending more time looking around than you think you will!

Fun daily bargain site

Fun daily bargain site

If you’re anything like me, you get a ton of emails daily from an assortment of daily deal sites ranging from clothing to kids gear to travel/hotels.  Groop Dealz is by far one of my favorite daily deal sites that reminds me alot of etsy; unique clothing, jewelry, housewares, and most importantly unique party supplies.  I have found great bridesmaid gifts, party favors and party decorations on this site and have been very happy with everything I’ve received.  If you don’t have a party coming up that you need anything for, its also a great place to start your Christmas shopping!  Have fun shopping!

I hope that everyone has had a nice weekend and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather (at least down here in the south!).  We had a wonderful weekend filled with good eating, a visit from my sister, Auntie Lala, the farmer’s market and a great visit to the lake to walk and feed the ducks.  The weekends at our house always means yummy food and a special treat…..this weekend was frozen yogurt, a family favorite.  Tonight I want to give a shout out to my favorite cake/cupcake baker around here (in my opinion); Burton’s Bakery.  She has made amazing treats for my son’s birthday parties and she is our go-to for any occasion we need specialty desserts.  The bonus is that she’s a local business, and I’m a big believer in using small local business whenever possible.  Check her out for your next occasion!

Vacation Time

Vacation Time

Sometimes I find it really hard to separate my family life from my work life.  While some people believe this is a bad thing, I think its the reason I continue to love what I do.  My family inspires me to do new things, which is especially important when trying to build up a business.  With this being said, I will definitely be incorporating aspects of my personal life on this blog as it will give you a great idea of who I am and where I come from.

Tomorrow we leave for our first vacation as a family of four.  After a busy last month with our new little man, I think we are all looking forward to heading to the beach and a nice change of scenery.  We will be meeting up with my mom, dad and sister and I could not be more excited for several days of sand, water, fishing, eating and relaxing!  Vacation and the upcoming Labor Day holiday will definitely provide a fun two weeks ahead.  Stay tuned next week for some great Labor Day party tips!

I am most excited to start working on a project for the Vend Raleigh Illuminate 2013 conference on September 13, 2013 ( ).  Vend Raleigh is an amazing group of women that are all mompreneurs working hard to make a name for themselves all the while supporting their families and loved ones.  This conference provides a forum for networking, learning and general female camaraderie; one of the biggest thing a mom needs is a positive support group and this is the ideal place to find it!  Check it out and support local mompreneurs!

I hope everyone enjoys the beautiful weather for this upcoming weekend. It will definitely be much nicer than all the rain last weekend! Enjoy time with your family and friends, and I am excited for all the fun projects I have to share with you in the coming weeks.
